Blessing in Disguise

I watch as my child spins round and round,
till he falls with a smile to the ground.
He watches an ant as is crawls on by.
It hurries fast, carrying something and he wonders why.

He runs up to me and hugs me, then smells my skin,
he says I like you mommy, that is I love you from him.
Other kids may call his name, but he is happy to watch them run on by.
He watches a butterfly instead and pretends to run around and fly.

Once again my kitchen is flooded by water over flowing,
it is hard to be angry when he is smiling and simply glowing!
I’m making soup, for you mommy, can’t you see,
that this is fun, stimulating and exciting to me?

It’s hard to explain to others that he does see you, he’s just busy.
Playing in a world that would make you very dizzy.
He sees beauty in everything and seems so fulfilled,
with the wonderful simple things that the mind can build.

He is six but seems to other more like three,
but that really is okay with me.
What kind of world would it be with out people like him?
Would be very dull and boring, close-minded and dim.

He doesn’t ask for sympathy, only understanding.
Every day something is fresh and new and attention demanding.
Just because he won’t play with you doesn’t mean he doesn’t want to.
Teach him and show him slowly, the things you want him to do.

His voice is a song that is ever so calming,
like angels from above happy and rejoicing!
How am I so blessed to have a child like you?
Because I never knew till now how much I need you too!
