And They Called it Autism

They look so far away sometimes
those two brown eyes
I wonder if they even see me
watching

Across the room with its
four walls
The only things that prevent you
from leaving me
forever
I think this sometimes

And you sway side to side, rocked in the
arms of that melody, its melancholy notes
wrapped like a blanket
blocking out those cold, ignorant stares
(the laughter you don't understand)

I wonder if you hear my voice
calling your name
the syllables sliding off my tongue
slipping into air through
open lips

Perhaps you see the letters
of my own name
amidst the colors of your thoughts
red, yellow, green
stop, slow down,

Go Ahead
